Brief description of fishery:
Poaka Beck is our smallest reservoir at 17 acres but still a sizeable with very good accessibility to swims.
Again often visited by ospreys hunting for their evening meal! They can be awesome fishers.
Stocked with bigger rainbows, Poaka Beck offers some seriously good sport. On a calm evening the reservoir seems to come alive with fly hatches. It is popular with members fishing on or below the surface, and tends to provide the best catch per angler of the reservoirs.
No fishing is allowed from the dam, however all three banks are very accessible offering easy casting and you can catch on all banks. On Poaka you can almost always get the wind behind you. And it can blow up there!
If you don’t mind a long walk from the car park, then the inlet at the far end may be a good place to start. However, many anglers go to the point just up from the secure car park as it is easy on back casting and is always a good place to catch from.
